From the May issue of Vanity Fair:
"According to genealogist Gary Boyd Roberts, a researcher at the New England Historic Genealogical Society, in Boston, Meghan and Harry are 17th cousins, thanks again to the prolific Edward III, who had nine children who survived to adulthood. According to Roberts, one of Edward’s myriad descendants was an ancestor of Meghan’s father, the Reverend William Skipper, who arrived in New England in 1639. Other common ancestors can be traced back to the 15th century, such as Sir Philip Wentworth, a knight and courtier who was a great-grandfather to Jane Seymour, third wife of Henry VIII; Mary Clifford, daughter of John Clifford, the seventh Baron de Clifford; and Elizabeth Bowes and her husband, Richard Bowes—ancestors of Queen Elizabeth."
