I am pleased to announce that the multi-media exhibition,"Our Story: 400 Years of Wampanoag History," has opened at the New England Historic Genealogical Society, 99-101 Newbury Street, Boston, and will be free to the public now through Wednesday, April 25, 2018:
This exhibition is created entirely in the voice of the Wampanoag people. The exhibit brings to light a piece of history that had a significant impact on the Wampanoag tribe and their relationship with the Pilgrims.
It was produced was produced by Plymouth 400 and The Indian Spiritual and Cultural Training Council. Plymouth 400 is a not-for-profit organization formed to lead the planning and execution of programs and events commemorating the historic 400th anniversary of the 1620 Mayflower voyage, the landing of the Pilgrims, their relationship with the Native Wampanoag people and the founding of Plymouth Colony; events that significantly shaped the building of America. The Plymouth 400 commemoration will honor America's story of exploration, innovation, self-governance, and thanksgiving, the legacies sparked by these historic events that continue today as cornerstones of our nation.
The Indian Spiritual and Cultural Training Council, based in West Barnstable, Massachusetts, serves the Native people of the region. The goal of ISCTC is to sustain tribal history and culture through programs, training and opportunities that encourage traditions to thrive.
